The Hermit

The sun was disappearing over the horizon.

The noise was deafening as the waves clashed against each other but that did not deter my steps.

Was it the coolness that encouraged me to move on or was it the mind that had escaped to a location that made me a recluse.

It was just me and my memories with them as a toddler, a teen and an adult.

"Wish Life was fair," I whispered as my tongue tasted the salt on my dry lips. "'miss our time together," let a loose tear, "while 'pray you two rest in peace!"

August 17, 2017 prompt: In 99 words (no more, no less) write about an escape artist. It can even be you, the writer, escaping into a different realm or space in imagination. It can be any genre, including BOTS (based on a true story) or fantasy. You can focus on the escape, the twist or the person who is the escape artist.

A lone moment...

Our planet has a population of over a billion humans and still there are moments in our lives when we are alone, and things happen, and when they happen we either feel lonely after that incident or just want to be alone.

Man is such a complex being that he wants to be surrounded by happiness, but when a plight occurs and if he is alone, he is petrified cause it takes time for him to absorb it, and then spit it out after being able to translate his feelings over that issue.

One such thing happened about four years ago when no one was "technically" around

My dad was in the ICU, and the doctors had given up on him. The cancer cells had taken over his entire body thus debilitating him, and his organs were giving up functionality gradually.

My brother and mom had to leave the room for some last minute errands, and I was alone with him while his eyes were shut, and he had a breathing mask on his face.

I was standing on his right side, stroking his arm gently more so to make him aware that we are around him. Just then, he raised his left arm as if trying to hold on to somebody. I was curious what is he up to since he had a smile on his face while his eyes were closed.

I tried to go to the other side of the bed in order to hold that hand, but within a few seconds that arm went plop!

I looked at him; he had a calm expression on his face. I was puzzled!

Called out to the nurse, who came in after a few minutes and declared him dead.

“We are the cosmos made conscious and life is the means by which the universe understands itself.”
― Brian Cox

Gradually the news of his death spread, and we all grieved over our loss.

But, that moment alone with my dad, made me very curious and lonely since his action prior to his passing away was very strange. Researched into it, and found that angels come to take the soul away. And am sure he must have seen those angels in the form of his dad and mom (my grandparents) thus the smile!

“Within each of us is a light, awake, encoded in the fibers of our existence. Divine ecstasy is the totality of this marvelous creation experienced in the hearts of humanity”
― Tony Samara

My 2 cents
We are such amazing creatures that we can tune our mind to three levels of consciousness in any given state. My dad's organs were failing, he was partially in a coma, his level of consciousness was able to see what the soul wanted him to perceive.

Mantra for today: Our brain is a powerful organ that has a mind of its own.

Wordless Wednesday #69

The above picture is a gutter being surrounded by pebbles so that the soil does not erode off.

This same analogy can be applied to our mind....We need to have it protected 24*7 by being aware of what we think so that our negative thoughts do not ruin our action.

Mantra for today: Safeguard your mind since that is the key to your karma bank.

Wordless Wednesday #61

A clear sky is compared to a mind that is unhindered with thoughts (that is very rare!)

But, if a man allows one thought at a time, the picture would be like the above!

Serene!

Result: Thought turns into action, and man lands up being more productive.

Mantra for today: Focussing is obstinate, but Man can be more stubborn than this verb, let's prove it!

Mind your business!

Mind is a restless organ, and it can drift from one place to another in a jiffy. This drifting does not need the purchase of a ticket. The advantage is that we are ticketless, and there is no one to penalize us for it.

However, chances are that our mind will not always think of pleasant things. It will mostly think of unfortunate things that have happened upon thy self. This will give us thoughts of people associated with it and the circumstances conjoined to it.

Result?

We stiffen up and forget to breathe normally, which can delay the secretion of hormones to our body. That moment, will not matter, but eventually our body will get taxed by its lack of secretions.

What is the problem?

Problem is that mind if not alerted of its thoughts will always think negative and this thinking will give small jolts to our body, and it will eventually tax us as our body ages.

Solution?

Mind and Negativity are a century old problem. It cannot be derogated immediately. However, once we start getting aware of our thoughts then, we can help control our mind and its thoughts.

We all are the children of one Creator. There is no one born with wrong intentions. Circumstances make a person do a wrong act. Forgive and Forget is the mantra but again not easy to do. But, staying detached from any person, action, and circumstance will help a person avoid negativity in their minds.

Awareness of the action you perform or think can lead to freedom for all the sufferings that thy man has bestowed upon himself.

Be in the moment when your mind is thinking of things. You will love to analyze your own mind and your own thoughts and eventually be proud of it.

Mantra for today: Mind is yours. Take ownership of it.

How to nourish your body and mind?

Mind is a Four-letter word but it is an important part of our body and can do wonders.
This organ is volatile and surprisingly, it impacts the body when it wanders around. This wandering can ignite a mind-body problem while stimulating a change in our mental state, which could be a pleasant or an unpleasant affair. This intimate connection between our mind and body can also impact our karmas since; it is dependent on our actions.

Desires can also allure the mind and eventually cause brunt to the physical self.

Can we control our MIND?
It is difficult to control our mind at times. But, to be aware of our thoughts is the beginning of a life changing process. We should be aware of our actions whether good or bad and this will gradually lead us to controlling our thoughts.
How can man control his thoughts and help avoid the stress to the physical body?

Awareness and being in the moment is the key!
As soon as your mind starts wandering
Pause, right there!
Rewind on your thoughts and make sure you make your mind; mind over you, and not over anybody else.
Try this small activity every now and then, and be amazed at how you can train your mind to be with you rather than wandering around aimlessly.
Man is an intelligent soul, and his mind can be programmed. Productivity increases once he controls the mind, and this results in accomplishment. He also tends to be more relaxed, attuned to himself and that results in contentment.
Imagine a life with no troubles or worries. Being content with whatever comes his way. That is like obtaining nirvana while living around materialistic things. Formulating our mind can help us attain our goal.
If a man is Aware of his surroundings, then he can make decisions relevant to them. Decisions can be good or bad at that time, but with time a person learns. This self-learning is a key to self-realization. That makes the person very independent and confident in whatever situation he is in. Whatever challenges Life will offer can be faced with determination and valor.
Thus, next time when you are in a situation and are thinking. Be Aware of your thoughts and gradually the nurturing of your thoughts will make you find Life beautiful in whatever state you are dwelling in.
Ah! The BEAUTY of MIND!

Difference in Parenting

Becoming parents is divine.

Some people would give up their own life style to adapt to the tunes of the baby.

While some would just flush the baby down the toilet.

Seriously!

This mom in china was quite overwhelmed having a baby that she thought of getting rid of the little infant by a mere flush. She is a single mom and that could have been the reason for her insensitivity but, she could have had an abortion rather than keeping the baby full term, delivering it, and then getting rid of it.
How can an individual be so callous?

How can some parents be so divine and some be indifferent? We all have the same soul, body and mind. Is it the circumstances that make some parents hardhearted and some yearn to be good parents?

My 2 cents
No situation in life can be so miserable that one flushes another life down the toilet. It is how we translate our circumstances; that matters from an individual to individual.

Mantra for today: Translate each circumstance of your life in a positive way. It has something to teach you, each day.

Fear Factor

Fear is a noun that causes apprehensions when the mind is confused over something.

I was in turmoil when my family went camping over the memorial day weekend. We accompanied our kids boy scouts troop.

Company and the food was in abundance. However, lights out was ordered at 10pm. We went to our respective tents to retire for the evening.

Usually a new place, does not make me sleep immediately. I was tossing around consciously, but with my eyes shut, so that my mind does not drift away to other places while I try to lull my body to sleep.

Suddenly, I hear foot steps around my tent. I could not refrain myself from keeping my eyes shut; I immediately opened them and tried to follow those footsteps by my ears while trying hard to come to a conclusion. There were 5 tents around my tent so, initially I thought it must be one of the persons from the tent, but this noise was very near my tent and would not go. I thought of it as a bear.

I did not want to sit up and wake up my family over it. My heart was beating fast that I could not breathe. My mind was racing relentlessly, and I could not think straight.

Then, I quickly forced my eyes shut, and took deep breaths. I told myself that I ought to remain calm and think straight. Grounded my self and started thinking of strategies to face this situation.

The noise was still coming, and I was confused that why hadn't this animal attacked yet?

I got up slowly while taking deep breaths, and I noticed a distinctive smell in the air. This smell usually occurs when it rains.

It was the RAIN

I mocked at myself on how the mind can make up things and take an individual into a trauma. This trauma avoids a man to use his senses.

Did you have any such occasion when your mind took over your senses?

Mantra for today: Controlling one's mind is tough, but awareness is the key!

HOW to program your Mind?

Mind is an organ that wanders even if his body is stationed. This mind will wander into others lives.

Is that necessary?

How can I make my mind; mind over myself rather than others?

Awareness and being in the moment is the key!

As soon as your mind starts wandering.
Pause, right there!

Rewind on your thoughts and make sure you make your mind; mind over you, and not over anybody else.

Try this small activity every now and then, and be amazed at how you can train your mind to be with  you rather than wandering around aimlessly.

Ways to feed the Mind, Body, and Soul

A human consists of a body and his soul. However, we spend most of our time appreciating our body and darned little time is spent on the soul, which actually is the prime gadget of our existence on this planet.

Since Time is money for most of us. Below are some ways we could nourish our body and soul at the same time.

  • Have sound relationships. Exit from relationships that are violent or abusive. Hoping that things will improve, is not gonna help. The nagging and shouting is hurting your mind, body and soul. Thus, End it.

  • Check what you ingest. Keeping a tab on what goes inside your body will take you miles with regards to your health. If health is good, mind and soul is happy. Awareness towards it will lead to happiness.

  • Nature walks. This uplifts your spirits and gives you an extra gush of oxygen to all the organs and the areas that are deprived of blood or are in pain. This will help you get a grip on all your emotions and give you ideas on how to tackle it. Result is that the mind and soul is relaxed which will give a healthy body.

  • Massages. These are helpful for the body and soul. Do not need to go to a professional. Use your own hands and massage that bruised area or the part that is giving signals of pain. Will see the difference!

Mantra for today: Take charge of yourself. This is your mind, body and soul.

What Are You Thinking?

The Power of Mind

Mind?
Thoughts come from your mind and even if mind is a Four-letter word, it is an important part of our body and can do wonders. It can nurture new thoughts. Humans are fortunate to have a mind of their own, but most are not aware of it and prefer to follow others than make their own path.

Why?
Mind can only think if it is at peace and is in harmony with the body. This quiet mind when is not overwhelmed with distraction then can actually think and come up with a zillion of ideas to solve a problem in his life.

Wonders of Mind
  • It can travel miles, while; the body is sitting in one place.
  • It can make plans for the future while the body is at rest.
  • It can innovate.
  • It can nurture positive or negative feelings in one self.
  • It can make the body heal.
  • It can make a sick person live for an extended period of time.
  • It can make us see beautiful or ugly things.
  • This mind can make us be at peace or make us restless and give us sleepless nights.
  • This mind can make us achieve anything.

Can we control our Mind?
It is difficult to control our mind at times. But we ought to be aware of our thoughts in the beginning. This awareness of our thoughts will make us be aware of our actions whether good or bad and this will gradually lead us to controlling our thoughts.

It is a reversible cycle.

Our thoughts lead us to actions. But, if our thoughts are monitored, then our actions will be performed consciously.
Awareness is the key to freedom!
If a man is Aware of his surroundings then he can make decisions relevant to them. Decisions can be good or bad at that time, but with time a person learns. This self-learning is a key to self-realization. That makes the person very independent and confident in whatever situation he is in. Whatever challenges; Life will offer can be faced with determination and valor.
Thus, next time when you are in a situation calm yourself by taking deep breathes and come in harmony within yourself. Then be aware of your thoughts and this gradual nurturing of the thoughts can help make your life beautiful and content in whatever state you are.

Mantra for today: Awareness
