How becoming a Parent teaches us to be Mindful?

One Sunday evening my kid got pushed while playing on the play structure. He comes with his bruised elbow to the bench where I was sitting with a few sobs.
Seeing that bruise, made my heart skip a beat, and I blow the mud off his bruise while keeping a sharp ear towards his details.

Teaching Children About Spiritual Truth

“Mommy I am scared of the dark”
“I cannot sleep, there are monsters under my bed?”

The above statements are so common amongst moms whose children are growing up and transitioning between home and school. The few hours they spend outside, they mingle with children their age and chances are that their minds get filled up with all sorts of ideas, beliefs and opinions, and it makes them a little uneasy when they are tucked in their beds for the night.
After several amusing stories, when things did not pacify. I introduced the word GOD to my kid.

The importance of being bilangual

This goes way back when my kid was six years old and as research has indicated that there are psychological benefits of learning another language. We, as parents thought it would be good to get him started as an immature since it helps in brain growth and aids in boosting memory.

Thy art of abandoning video games during weekdays!

I learnt to tackle the above situation by an incident that happened way back when my child was a toddler.

He received a return gift, which was a fisher price racing car. It was identical to the one he already had thus, did not bother to open the wrapping.

I placed it on the shelf with the hope that once the existing car wears out with dents etc. I will open the new one.

Needless to say, my child was always interested in that wrapped toy car and kept asking me to open the wrapper for him to play (that is an obedient stage, when they take permission to open things!!)

I kept avoiding the conversation and insisted that he play the one in his toy bin. He would listen, but now and then the question would arise.

Is Parenting all about common sense?

I remember the day when I announced to the world that I am pregnant. Sure, the world rejoiced with me by sending in congratulatory messages and throwing baby showers while I was briefed by each monthly visit by my gynecologist about the development of the baby and eventually asked to attend a Lamaze class for an easy delivery.
Boy, life was a bed of roses as my better half and me used our common sense to clean up our acts of late nights and make a healthy schedule that would help our infant grow in a comfort zone.

The innocent belief of Santa Claus

With Christmas around the corner, my ten-year old is super-duper excited. His constant humming of carols have filled my home, and his list is changing each week as he window-shops around for the latest toys.
I realize that for a ten-year old to believe in Santa, sounds very childish, especially when most of his classmates are out of this myth. I am pretty sure some of them must have spilled the can of beans to him. But, my kid refuses to accept it and still wants to be home on Christmas Eve while keeping his ears glued to the rooftop to hear Santa’s carriage land and have him slide down the chimney.
