Done With Men--Spotlight and Book Review

Done With Men by Shuchi Singh Kalra

The Blurb

Travel journo, Kairavi Krishna (Kay) has had it with men. After a series of disasters (losers, philanderers, leeches, mama's boys and possessive psychos), she is all too tempted to walk out on the prospect of ever finding love. Accompanied by her best friend and flat-mate Baani, she sets off for Goa, hoping to get away from her miserable love life and vowing to stay clear of the male species.

Goa however, has a host of surprises in store for her. Ricky, her pesky ex-boyfriend, is busy painting the town red with his hot new girlfriend. Now what is poor Kay to do other than overdose on vodka, smoke pot, get an outrageous tattoo and fall off the hotel balcony? She wakes up in the hospital to the tender ministrations of Dr.Vivian D'Mello--young, suave and handsome as hell. Will Kay stick to her guns or will she fall for his ridiculously sexy charms? And what's up with the mixed signals he's giving out?

Done with Men--A Review

Done with Men (DWM) is a romantic novel where the protagonist Kairavi tells her own story and is a confident young lady who has not been very fortunate in finding love. Her carefree attitude kept me fixated as I enjoyed a few giggles over a few episodes one such where she fell off the balcony and had to be hospitalized.

Honestly, the story line is regular but the author has balanced it with a few guffaws that made my cheek muscles stretch involuntarily.

But, then there was a slight glitch that I could not digest well. The climax could have been a little more crisp. Kairavi being a well educated, up to date and contemporary woman falls into a misunderstanding when the man she loves goes out to buy a ring with a girl who is supposed to be his fiance. I paused for a bit and wanted Kairavi to go and approach Vivian (cause according to the character evolved by the author, she could have done it) and ask point blank about their relationship rather than getting upset about it.

The author, Shachi's way of writing is jaunty, and that made the whole book appealing and engaging till the end. Thus, giving it a 4 stars.
I would recommend this book to any patron who loves reading about flings since it is a fanciful story.
