A Narrow Escape...

Weary and overworked Jack opened the door of his apartment, let out a big yawn prior to entering, and then stepped in gently shutting the gate after him.

Walked to his bedroom to change, and was about to lurch towards his bed, when his eyes fell upon the frame that was slightly tilted. He paused, scratched himself while introspecting and after taking a deep breath, walked towards it to straighten it.

Just then, a loud noise made him shriek in fear, turned around to see a beam over his bed. He held the frame tightly and whispered, "Thank you!"

A Life cut short

Burning Fossil Fuels is the number one cause of air pollution. In fact I feel that the number of cars on the road must be equivalent to the population of our country. This one, two or three pair of wheels can outnumber the humans living!

Such is the impact of these automobiles.

Soon they will take over the planet (Figuratively speaking) as they continue to lash out at us by their dangerous fumes that consist of carbon monoxide, oxides of nitrogen, hydrocarbons and particulates, which actually prohibits man to avoid pulling down his windows to breathe the fresh air. He instead prefers to inhale the air conditioned air or if on a two wheeler will put a mask on him to avoid ingesting the direct fumes.

Time to get back to these automobiles cause if they are not subdued, they will rule over mankind!

Time to shorten their lives to about a year, wherein they are forced to get admitted into a mechanic shop who will tune their engine and other parts such as spark plugs, piston rings, cylinder bores, valves, air cleaner, fuel filter that will prevent them from exhaling those poisonous fumes.

Result
Cleaner air for the city and the people living in it.

My 2 cents
Man has invented plenty. It is time to sustain what we have. That can only be done by cutting the life of our precious brainchild. This will sure be a headache for ALL, but will create awareness and clean air that will help us all walk towards a healthy life.

Programing our inventory so that we can have a life void of Asthma and many breathing problems...Amen!

Mantra for today: Prioritizing things in life can enrich mankind.

Blame it on Technology?

20th Century

"Riya don't waste your time talking aimlessly over the phone." requests mom as she continues, "Go back to finishing your homework."

"Yes Mom" replied Rita meekly as she quickly hangs up, and goes to her books.
Once finished, she helps out her mom by laying the table for dinner. Also helps cleaning up once done.

 21st Century

"Riya please don't waste your time texting. It would be good if you could finish your homework, you will have more time to watch TV or play video games" requests mom

Riya makes a face, but then ponders over what mom just said, and then puts the phone away while uttering a silent swear under her breath!

Takes her own sweet time to finish her work, and soon Mom is calling out to her, "Riya dinner is ready!"

"Nah, I don't feel like eating"comes a prompt reply

"What happened?" asks an anxious mom

"I just don't like what's on the menu, mom" she replies with anger, and yells, "How many times have I told you, I don't like this vegetable. Ugggh!"

Mom rolls her eyes while coming to terms with her anger, she pulls out a frozen pizza and puts it in the oven. "In my days, I've never had the courage to talk to my parents like this" she said out loud with the hope that her daughter listens.

Peeps in her room to find her wearing headphones and swinging her head back n forth to the music playing in her ears.

My 2 cents
Blame it on the technology that man's behavior is going down the gutters.
He is so self-absorbed by the gadgets that he doesn't care for the flesh that is right there next to him who can actually give him emotional and mental support.

Mantra for today: Man is advancing by inventions, but is throwing the quality of being a human in the dungeon.

The Benefits of 27Coupons

"It's a WOW time!" Sarita kept humming this now and then in a jarring and unmelodious voice.

I was trying hard to concentrate on my work, but her tune was rattling in my ears although the statement was making me very curious. I gave in and asked her irritatingly, "What is WOW time?"

She rolled her eyes and started humming it again.

I could not take it, " Could you please elaborate and not just go about in circles" I requested.

She smiled and while blinking a couple of times she pushed her hair behind her ears, pulled a chair and held my hand and made me sit next to me.

Opened her laptop, and pointed to a site.

"27coupons! Okay! So, you have 27 coupons to shop" I breathe in deep but more puzzled, "I still don't get you" while massaging my temples since her wow time was irritatingly vibrating the cells of my brain, and I did not really get the wow message, yet!

Sarita got the message, and went on typing a keyword amazon on the site, and it opened a site with coupons pertaining to amazon.

http://www.27coupons.com/stores/amazon.in/

"Look! Isn't it wow" she exclaimed with wide eyes!

I quickly brought myself closer to her, and without taking her permission, I took her laptop and searched for my wish list on the site, and was ecstatic to find coupons with reference to it.

"Oh! it is a WOW time!" I squealed with delight, as I was shopping for favorite author books, watches, and a smartphone that I had longed for but could not get a discount. To top it all, I got a collective discount on my total amount spent. The shopping was done in few minutes since my wish list was stored in the gray matter for long, and that longing got a quick chance to cough up as soon as an opportunity came knocking.

While typing in my credit card information, I asked with interest, "How did you come to this site?"

"27coupons has been in business for long, and they have collaborated with many famous stores such as Flipkart, eBay, Myntra, and Yatra are some of them. They offer discounts not only merchandises but also on Cruises, Festive Gifts, Flights, Flowers, Entertainment, Grocery, Jewelry, Hotels, Holidays world wide and Health and Fitness.

"Interesting!" I squealed as I bookmarked "27coupons.com" site.

I quickly put the credit card in my wallet and sent out text messages to my friends.

Sarita was quick to peep and giggled as she closed her laptop.

"It sure is WOW time, and I see you are spreading the happiness around."

"Yes, somebody has to be the Santa Claus, and spread the news around for all of them to avail of these magnificent discounts." I winked and got up while giving out a loud "Ho-Ho-Ho."

Sarita had a smile on her face, as this time she sang in a proper pitch, "It sure is a WOW time. Thank you 27 coupons!"

Mantra for today: Never underestimate the power of online shopping. It can not only give you peace of mind, but also good deals.

Review and Spotlight on Against All Odds by Jazz Singh

Against All Odds
by
Jazz Singh

The Blurb

The first time they collide, he thinks she’s a con artist, she believes he’s an arrogant snob.

It takes several meetings to change their minds about each other, but eventually, Abhimanyu and Sanjana strike up a friendship that seems destined to turn into something more. He’s a rich successful businessman, however, and she’s a small-town girl who doesn’t fit into his glittering world; a fact that Abhimanyu’s mother has taken pains to point out.

Will they ever overcome the odds, or are their lives on parallel tracks, never destined to cross?

MY Review

Against all Odds talks about the probability of what life could throw at us.

This story is about a young couple Sanjana and Abhi, who meet by chance, and keep bumping into each other accidentally. These coincidental meetings make them fall for each other, and even though the girl tries hard to avoid him, he is right there even though by chance. This attraction can then no longer hold its reins, and they fall head over heels with each other, defying the society and their rules.

Until one day!

An incident broke Sanjana's heart, and she distanced herself from Abhi. But, then fate had plans for them, and they met in an awkward situation which turned beautiful like old times, after they cleared their inhibitions and opened all barricades that were misunderstood. This resulted in them uniting, and since love was in the air, the parents rejoiced irrespective of the thick line of class defined by society.

The Author highlighted a major hurdle that Indian Society faces when two lovers of different societal group unite. She brought it out in a neat fashion without digging deep the ugliness that is usually associated with it. The story is neatly woven with some classic elements such as Respect, Freedom, Status, Ego, and Forgiveness thus, making it a worthy read. The ingredients are well kneaded into the story line making it light and breezy.

Meet the Author

Dear Readers,Jazz Singh is one of the most illusive writers I have met. So respecting her need for privacy we have not asked her for a profile picture or a writeup. Long back, when I had first interacted with her.. I had asked her the reason behind this. Her answer was… I want to be known for my work. All I can say to that is… She will be…

Wordless Wednesday #64

Today I talk about footprints, just like that leaf in the above picture left its impression.

We have got to do our actions so that tomorrow when we are not around...our actions will speak for ourselves!

Mantra for today: Let's be in the present and move cause if no action; no life!

Cover Reveal : Matches made in Heaven

Cover Reveal:

MATCHES MADE IN HEAVEN

Romantic Short Stories by

Sundari Venkatraman

Sneak Peak

Swayamwar on TV reality show; Dating Clubs; Matchmaking websites; parents setting up their children with one another; friends getting married and more – there are many ways that couples get together for hopefully a “Happily Ever After” experience. MATCHES MADE IN HEAVEN explores the various premises in the form of short stories that one can relate to in everyday life. There is even one based on Gods falling in love. Shh! I am not going to say anything further. It’s for you to find out.

And there are thirteen of them. While many insist that “13” is an unlucky number, I am quite fascinated by it. I absolutely believe that it’s a lucky number for me. That’s why I decided to publish this anthology with 13 romantic stories.

About the author

Sundari Venkatraman has authored four novels and a short story anthology till now, Matches Made In Heaven (anthology) being the latest. The Malhotra Bride; Meghna; The Runaway Bridegroom; Flaming Sun Collection 1: Happily Ever Afters From India (Box Set) and Matches Made In Heavenhave all been self-published on Amazon under the banner of Flaming Sun. The three novels are regularly seen on Amazon’s Top 100 Bestsellers’ Contemporary Romances list. The Box Set and Anthology are bound to catch up soon.

A great fan of Mills & Boon romances over the past four decades, Sundari has always believed in ‘Happily Ever Afters’ and all her books promise happy endings.

Matches Made In Heaven is a compilation of thirteen short stories – all romantic – based on many situations anyone can come upon in their day-to-day lives. The stories revolve around the different ways a couple can get to meet and tie the knot in a culture rich country like India. Those reading the stories will definitely be able to connect realising that one of the situations has definitely been a part of their lives.
