A nerd

"Move it, fellas!" Torri was shouting and pushing past people in the mall without apologies, and that made people either turn towards her with eyebrows crossed or accuse her of the wrongdoing.

Torri was unperturbed!

Her goal was to be there before the store opened. Be amongst the first few customers to avail of the discount and still be able to grab the latest technology in her hand.

Her weakness towards most recent gadgets sure was putting a hole in her pocket, but the lust and passion were overriding her mind and intelligence, thus avoiding her to think straight.

The Wonders of all that I wonder

When I was a school going kid, I was always curious about why some living organisms could fly and some could crawl, and a few of us could just walk?

There was always the inquisitiveness to know, "Oh! I wonder, why?"

Now those were not the days when all the answers to the Why would be available at the click of a button. Parents had to take us to the library, and either we go look for the answers in the encyclopedia. And with the font so small, and the lights of the library so dim, no wonder most of us had glasses by the time we were teens!

Needless to say, this tenacity has paid forward tremendously. Today, technology is changing with the wink of an eye, thanks to all those, "I wonder why" queries by our generation. This has helped mankind move forward, and sometimes make us appear a little crumbly  by our actions that are sometimes not very noble.

Curiosity, intrusiveness is the father of all inventions.

Honestly, these days only a handful of children exhibit such behavior. More so, since they have been given the comforts of a WiFi or an internet that exploit their reasoning within themselves. All they do is type, click and voila!

The answer is found!

“The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled.”
― Plutarch

My two cents

We have to create curiosity in our young blood by arousing their mental inquisitiveness by not giving them what they desire, but actually trying to take them virtually on that trip such as visits to the museum, libraries or shows that exhibit the science behind a query.

Lack of time makes most of us turn their "Why's" into quick solutions.

It's the quest for knowledge, the search for solutions, the research to problems and the thirst to quench their doubts that will make them shine in this lifetime!

Mantra for today: The quest to know the unknown is what makes this existence worthwhile!

Wordless Wednesday #81

Fostering, Nurturing, Breeding!

All such common nouns, but very difficult to do with a being that is powerful and mighty.

Needs courage to even face such an animate thing and then think of taming it!

Mantra for today: Courage allows us to take risks, and tickle the braveness within each of us.

Nurture thyself

Ann jumped into the train. She could squeeze herself partially through the door, and that alarmed her co-passenger. Was about to pull the chain, but instead she shouted, "I have a 9am crucial meeting. Let the train go on!"

She would always be coaxing herself to go on, strive for the best!

Until one day, her body collapsed on the road.

She was in the hospital, and while the doctors and the medicines helped recuperate her organic structure, she chose to meditate and chant while nourishing her soul that was bruised by her continuous vexations, and negative stimulus.

When THE day arrives...

Nostradamus had predicted many things, and out of the many he also had given an estimate of the day when the world will come to an end.

Sure, that leaves us all fearful since the last day of existence is nearing as we speak.

What do we do?

Nothing!

Just continue with our daily humdrum of our lives since sitting under the table in fear that one unfortunate day our planet earth will be engulfed by the sun's rays or some natural disaster will eat us all alive thus, making it the last day of our existence!

Life will become stagnant and this will not help mankind.

Sure, mindfulness would help.

And recently where ever you look, the word awareness is spoken a lot about. People are cautious of their surroundings, apprehensive of their behavior, watchful over their family, vigilant about their health thus, making all their five senses all attentive.

However, there are times when we go and live in the past, or the future thus miss out on the present, but then mankind obliges each other with a reality check by either exhibiting some clashes between them or a natural disaster helps bring us together and make us realize how little we are when it comes to a  calamity or a tragedy.

Thus, making me hum the famous song:
Que sera, sera
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours to see
Que sera, sera
What will be, will be

Till then, let us continue walking our respective paths, cause when suddenly a last day on this earth will come, we all shall scream, cry, howl and pray as we near our end and then maybe just maybe some of us might regret not having smiled, jumped with joy or just hugged someone whom we loved.

Mantra for today: Life is today, whatever it is!

Review and Spotlight of Lemon Girl by Jyoti Arora

'It's all your fault.'
Mere words these are.
"But words can possess a shadow invincible enough to rob even a soul of its eternity."
In a society that finds it easier to mark sins of a victim than the culprit, Nirvi is a young girl punishing herself for the faults she did not do and avenging her hurts by defeating her own truth.
She is scared of her future, and ashamed of her past. She is failing herself, and knows it. She has had a long line of boyfriends, and hated them all. She detests the guy she is living with, runs away from the one she loves , and seduces the one who can never love her.
When Arsh first sees Nirvi, she's a free and frank girl in whose eyes sparkle the lemony zest of life. The next time he sees her, she is a voiceless doll draped in clothes that cover her body less and shroud her soul more. And Arsh can't rest till he finds out what made Nirvi give up her own real self.
Nirvi knows she is dragging herself on a path from which there can be no recovery. Can her spirit survive the treacherous downfall? Or is the pull of fear and push of desperation just too strong to withstand for a girl who believes she has "nowhere else to go" but down.
"When it's time for you to fall in love, even a lemon can become the cause of it," says Arsh.
But can love survive, when even the self love dies?
Can love survive when respect is no more?
Does true love have the power to revive a dying soul?
Find out in the pages of this brilliantly woven, intense, heart-warming and thought-provoking saga of RISING IN LOVE.

My Review
This book has a unique kick that makes you want to know more about this once described carefree girl whose jaunty and happy go lucky attitude was captured by an onlooker on a casual day thus making him nickname her as a "Lemon Girl"
That spunky, feisty attitude  described by Arsh created such an image that the reader kept flipping the pages to know more about Nirvi, who was given the above nickname. But alas when he meets her after a few years, he finds her reclusive, cloistered and unsocial. However, that does not keep him away from her. He continues to hang around her friends and Nirvi to know more about her, and gradually many closets were opened and skeletons were brought out. This helped Nirvi contemplate her fears as she mulled over her past and tried pushing them away, but with caution. Fortunately Arsh was there at each step of the way, thus allowing him to get a place in her heart, as he gained her trust thus becoming her ally.
The narration is smooth except for some instances where I thought the communication between Arsh and Nirvi could have been portrayed in a more fledged and mature way given that they are two adults!
Lemon Girl not only tells a tale of a girl named Nirvi, but also talks about a scar that has made the progress of women weaker, and man refuses to peep into it despite the darkness and intensity of this problem caused by thy man! This book delivered not only a literary composition, but also dealt with an important issue that makes me admire the author for the duality thus, making it a recommended read!

Her writing achievements include two novels, three blogs, several wins in national level blog competitions, over five years of freelance writing experience, developing books for kids and abridging 24 famous English novels like Jane Eyre, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn etc.
Jyoti's first novel, Dream's Sake, was published in 2011 by V&S Publishers. It received great reviews and much appreciation from readers.
Books have always been Jyoti’s best friends. In fact, books so fascinated her from early childhood that she learnt reading, by herself, even before she started going to school. And she considers herself most fortunate that she is able to pursue her dream of being a novelist and work at what she loves best.
However, if books are Jyoti’s first love, and she’s still very devoted to them, the thrilling and steadily advancing world of technology also fascinates her. As a result, one of Jyoti’s blogs is a technological blog called Techn0Treats. In 2011, a post in this blog won her the title of Samsung Mobiler when Samsung made her a part of the team of twenty bloggers chosen from all over India through a blogging competition. In this team of twenty bloggers, she was the only woman and perhaps the only one who had studied literature instead of science. As a Samsung Mobiler,

Jyoti is a patient of Thalassemia Major which forced her to stop going to school after class seventh. After that, she continued her studies on her own through correspondence courses. Her zest to overcome her medical problems and zeal to achieve success keeps her striving on with her endeavors to make her dreams come true.
