The Common Man

Sometimes, I doubt if being a common man is praiseworthy. This common man has the most challenging life on this planet. He is not guaranteed any comforts from birth and has to work towards it. He faces all the downs when the economy is at the brink. He rarely enjoys the upside when the economy is doing terrific, but he sure gets a coupon here and there to enjoy the perks.

The Commoner is a brutal hit whenever a catastrophic event occurs. When politicians strike countries, this common man suffers.

When Mother Nature strikes, he faces the brunt of it. When inflation is at its highest, this common man suffers since his pay does not increase; as a result, it restricts his power of purchases.

Amidst all these hassles of everyday life, he also faces dishonest officials who want to churn out the small resources that this common man has saved for emergencies. Corruption makes the common man be strip naked.

This common man suffers a lot throughout his lifetime, but he always meets with a smile and extends a hand when another man is in trouble.

Although the daily hassles demotivate me, I am proud to be this common man, but the inner conscious speaking to me constantly makes me feel how blessed I am to have a conscious since many people have lost it amidst the hustle-bustle of life.

Being a common man is challenging, but it takes a lot of work and motivation to walk a single step.

Jai Ho!

Bow thee Foopers!

Foopers refers to us, the people who are termed as the common man!

Why Foo-pers?
Foo is a universal substitute for something real yet common
per--each of us

Each of us is a real cause we have a body, which if pinched will react. Our emotions can drive us over the hill or can drown us in our own tears. Even though we have a tough life on this planet, we enjoy each phase of our life.

We are  the producers, directors and actors of our own life, and many of us are still unaware of it, and look around for guidance.

Most of us are wearing fetters around our feet since the rules and guidelines created by our own mankind is making us limit our productivity as we try to abide by them. While there are some who go beyond their imagination and are either termed as hilarious or highly creative individuals.

We all are passersby who like to stop now and then from our busy schedules, watch around us, shun the ugly and absorb the pretty stuff. This translucent sheet works wonders on our frame as we choose to osmose what we fancy and continue to watch the drama along the border line.
Thus, allowing many to continue making headlines that are usually weird and obnoxious.

Although, needless to say, we the foopers suffer a lot throughout this lifetime, since we are the first ones to get hit when any catastrophe strikes whether it is the economy or mother nature. While the non-foopers sit in their thick walled mansions that do not let a speck of dust (of any kind) impact them.

And what is sweet about the whole story is that we blame it on our kismet and move along. Our testaments advise us to be resilient and not sin since the karma chameleon could come and bite us.

It takes much work and motivation to walk a single step if you are wearing those ordinary shoes, as we werdle across the platform of life to see what our future has in store.

Although the testaments advise us to be be resilient and and it takes courage and many lives to be a fooper. So, be proud of the fact, and move along!

Mantra for today: Jai ho to the Fooper!

How much space do we need—really?

Last weekend, I went for my son's swim meet. For those of you who are new to this concept, parents and their kids flock in thousands in a small area where they pitch their tent or put up chairs to rest and wait up patiently for their kid's turn to go and swim when their event is announced.

Each event has about 20 heats with 7 lanes open. And each child registers for at least 4 events. Thus making it a day long affair.

The above could give an insight into the plight of the parents who try to keep their belongings secure as they rush their child for the event they have signed up.

This was our second swim meet, and we preferred to take our chairs instead of a tent. Our kid would swim and come back and plop on the chair until the next event was announced. Until then we, as parents would hydrate him and give him a bite of potassium or protein.

While being busy in our own little world, there was this peculiar man who was eyeing us in an evil manner and was making every effort to fold our chairs and get away from there. He was resting in a tent and we were interrupting his space of hanging the towel thus, were not permitted around that area.

Seriously!

How much space does a man really need?

Research indicates 10 sq. feet  (1 m2) per person.

The situation in that aquatics center made me feel of "what if there is an emergency, and men have to flock in one place?"
Will we fight like cats and dogs for a space more than a man requires?

This man and his family had space to lie down and bask the sun until the next event was announced while we were just sitting on those two chairs and using the back side of our chair to hang/dry our towels. Just because he could not get space to dry his towels since our chairs were occupying that space, made him angry and was instigating others about us.

Why can't man learn to share space and be civil?

My 2 cents
We are quick to use our freedom of speech but hardly do we ponder on our freedom of actions.

Mantra for today: Being aware of our actions will help make this world a better place.

Being Popular versus a Common Man

Every man desires to be popular.

Why?

It is a known fact that life would be easy sleazy for the person who is popular, and the normal struggles a man encounters would be teeny weeny less. It is also known that once a person is popular the ladder to success keeps getting shorter and shorter, and success knows no boundaries. However, this popular man would be having sleepless nights since his each and every action would be recorded and re-winded by a common man.

Its like earning your first million dollars then the dollars just keep multiplying without any effort.

Boy, popularity sure has its advantages, huh!

Common man is trudging along the street while facing each hardship that comes his way, and trying to come up with solutions.
Even the Almighty would feel sorry for this common man. Such is the plight!
However, he is a happy go lucky creature, and does not really care even if he has a proper shirt on his body.

But ever wonder why only a handful of people get popular, and not all despite their hard work?
It is because the common man is the precursor for the popular man.
The common man is the person who lifts up a man to popularity. He is also the man who could bring a popular man down by his deeds or actions.

Conclusion

Even if, being popular means success, and power.
A common man is the person who actually has powers to make a man popular.

What would you prefer to be?

Mantra for today: Accepting your current situation gives you peace of mind.

Would like to dedicate this post to R.K. Laxman who sketched the common man's woes in his daily cartoons in TOI.
