An over-spilled Pot

"Sheesh!" Tara shrieked as she ran to pick up the boiling pot from the burner.

"Now I not only have to clean this stove top, but also go clean up the house." she agonized as she bit her lips and cursed herself for not being prompt.

While scrubbing those stains off the gas burner, she remembered her grandma's words, "Make sure you never allow the contents of a pot spill over, cause that is an invitation to surprise guests."

"Darn it!" she mumbled softly.
Tara was tormented by the above, "I hope her words don't come right."

A nerd

"Move it, fellas!" Torri was shouting and pushing past people in the mall without apologies, and that made people either turn towards her with eyebrows crossed or accuse her of the wrongdoing.

Torri was unperturbed!

Her goal was to be there before the store opened. Be amongst the first few customers to avail of the discount and still be able to grab the latest technology in her hand.

Her weakness towards most recent gadgets sure was putting a hole in her pocket, but the lust and passion were overriding her mind and intelligence, thus avoiding her to think straight.

Misfortunes and Life

Dan was pacing the room in anxiety.

Mom inquired, but he would not give any clues.

Finally, she gave up and was about to exit the room, "What if history repeats itself." he said out loud.

That froze her feet; she turned around and quickly hugged him with tears rolling down.

Gulped her fear and after taking a deep breath, "Misfortunes dare not come near to those who embrace life with confidence." she said while patting his back.

Dan cringed at the sight of his car-crash but was quick to utter, "Amen" to get a grip on himself.

In the Cafeteria....

Katie tripped over a foot in the cafeteria that made the contents of the tray fly all over the place.

That led to angry faces, rude remarks and loud shouts from students that became a victim to the droplets and particles of food over them.

Harry sneered over the scenario while bringing his feet together as he attempted to wipe a drop off his sleeve.

Katie was quick to get up wipe herself and the particles of food around her ex-boyfriend who was responsible for this act. His color changed from red to white after her selfless act.

Just a Game!

Sounds of loud groan, grunt, grumble and sighs were heard followed by a loud cry from the next cubicle. Curious Darci walked across with the intention to help but had mixed feelings when the person in that booth removed his headphones and had his head on the desk.

"Are you alright?" inquired Darci with apprehension.

"My favorite team lost the match, and I am just not used to losing." he said with his head propped up.

That statement made her laugh like crazy as she uttered, "It is just a game, and you were not even playing. Lighten up!"

The Results are in!

"Harry the results are in!" shouted Mom while holding the newspaper in one hand and giving a hard push to the sleepy head.

"So what do I do?" came a torpid reply.

Confused mom stared at him in bewilderment.

Gulped in order to control her temper, and tried to speak softly while avoiding to break off, "Well, give me your number, and let's check if you cleared."

"Sure, first let me catch up on my sleep. The results are here to stay!"

Perplexed Mom was astonished and wondered where is the element of excitement located in her son.

2AM

The clock struck 2am.

As I dragged myself from the couch, after saving my work. Mind was still occupied by my character, Lennard, who was trying hard to cope with his wife's demise.

I was taking baby steps towards my bedroom while trying to find a solution on how to help him cope, just then I heard a loud thumping and pounding of the pipes. Frightened, I ran towards the noise. Peeped out the window to hear humming as loud as a bee. 'Focused towards the ruckus to find the sprinkler system set off at an odd hour.

A Gentle Smile...

Heard about his demise so went to the funeral.

Saw him in his casket with the same old smile that he wore ~40 years ago. It made me go back to the time when I met him first. The boy who excelled in anything that he touched, or had an aspiration.

Worked hard for a living and enjoyed nature and captured it well.

He was a helper, a good cook, and brought a smile to many in need. All were there when he breathed his last shutting down all organs of his body yet leaving with that same old smile.

Home Alone

Ann bids her family a fond goodbye while wishing them to have a pleasant and safe trip back home.

She shut the door behind her and faced an empty house.

As she was picking up the mess after them, she could hear the echoes of her kid.

That made her quickly turn around to see nobody!
She shut her eyes, drew in a deep breath and smiled.

Turned on some soft music, and continued to clean while humming along. Her body and mind were running parallel to each other but were still in synch with regards to her sanity.

A Narrow Escape...

Weary and overworked Jack opened the door of his apartment, let out a big yawn prior to entering, and then stepped in gently shutting the gate after him.

Walked to his bedroom to change, and was about to lurch towards his bed, when his eyes fell upon the frame that was slightly tilted. He paused, scratched himself while introspecting and after taking a deep breath, walked towards it to straighten it.

Just then, a loud noise made him shriek in fear, turned around to see a beam over his bed. He held the frame tightly and whispered, "Thank you!"

Diwali and Halloween

Raj lights lamps in all corners of his house  with hymns playing in the background. He is celebrating Diwali the festival of light that symbolizes the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance.

Just then the bell rings, he opens the door to a bunch of kids dressed in spooky costumes and shouting, "Trick or Treat."

He smiles, grabs his bucket full of treats and shouts "Treat...Treat!" As if surrendering to their threat in a sweet way!

Shuts the door, and continues with his prayers of the Hindu festival that comes around the same time as Halloween.

This Christmas?

I was taking a walk around my neighborhood when suddenly there was a loud thunder followed by torrential downpour. That made me duck under the roof of a home. I started hearing some familiar, but loud voices coming from the four walls.

Could not resist, I walked around the home, to be able to recognize those sounds that seemed to have quite a conversation. As I glanced through the window; I jumped in horror.

Took physically broad steps towards my home; sure that a catastrophe is about to strike since Santa and the Grinch are under the same roof.

Potty Training

Paula was running around her 15-month-old son while keeping a keen eye on his actions. Then suddenly, while playing, her toddler, paused, scratched his head as if confused.  Showed some discomfort, and bent his knees while popping out his buttocks, while giving out an annoyed sound.

That noise was enough to alert her.

She immediately picked him up and rushed towards the bathroom. Then pulled down his training pants and put him on the throne.

"Phew! Potty training is difficult and a laborious job" she murmured while singing him a lullaby to keep him stationed on the pot.

A hike to remember

Laura and her family went on a hike in the woods. The surroundings were serene except for a bunch of squirrels who would go hither and thither. That would make them pause in their steps by giving these little creatures the way.

Seeing them nibble cutely on their food, she showed interest in being clicked with one of them.

Her son brought her and the little creature into one frame, and was about to click, when his eyes widened, and he screamed in horror.

Curious Laura turned around and to her dismay; she saw a bear in the background.

The strange weather

The wind was hustling furiously and made her windows bang loudly.

"Aha! this storm can make anyone create wrinkles out of fear" Myla chuckled as she was quickly closing the framework with panes.

Just when everything was securely tight, there was peace everywhere.

She was amazed at the intense weather and went outside to check upon the skies.

Just then a strong lightning fell upon her; she screamed in panic as she ran to duck under the roof.

She called upon her next door friend, who was surprised at her status report, cause she was singing in the rain.

The Mailman

Looking through the window, she stares at the path wondering if it will arrive as mentioned in the UPS tracking information.

Her feeble eyes look at the volume of the bottle, and she is in a dilemma  if she should take the last dose or leave it for a time that is crucial?

Ever since the insurance peaked up the prices for the drugs that she had been taking on a regular basis, she has been relying on the mailman.

Just then the doorbell rang, and that prompted her first to take her scheduled dose before receiving her package.

Alex's Pets - A Children's story

On a lazy summer afternoon, a boat is sailing over a calm river with some pure laughter in the background.
Alex is going sailing with his parents, and he is all giggles over how the ants in his boat are picking the crumbles of the sandwich left behind after their meal.

"Look Alex, we are going under a bridge." interrupted Dad

"Wowie!" he looked up and clapped in delight.

Just then the boat shook violently, and while Mom held onto Alex, Dad tried to stabilize it.

Soon everything was calm.

Just then a small bark caught the attention of this family. Alex was quick to wander around in search of this noise, and found a weak four legged creature under the wooden seat. Alex squealed in delight and pulled him out gently, with the mom by his side.

"How did he come here?" asked the dad as he was busy sailing the water vehicle.

"Oh! maybe he dropped off from the bridge, Dad" came a quick response.

Mom and Dad eye each other and chime in, "Maybe, you are right."

"Can we keep him?"urged Alex

"Oh! I dunno Alex," frowned mom, "your other pet won't be too happy with it."

"Who? Dino?"

Mom nodded affirmatively.

"Nah! Dino will be fine, Mom. A four legged animal meets another four legged creature. What's not to like about it?"Alex assured.

"We'll see about it, when we get home, Alex."

Soon they reached home, and Dino was surprised to see a furry animal in his master's hand.

He was quick to grunt.

Alex ignored him, and started playing with his new found pet whom he named Mario.

Next day Alex goes to school with his two pets to bond.

Mario is sitting in one corner waiting nervously for his master to arrive while Dino is staring at him and would snort at his each move, thus making Mario even more scared.

That would give Dino an empowering feeling, and he would feel proud of himself.

Just then lightning strikes, and a piece of thick wood falls over the feeble puppy.

He is sobbing in pain.

Mom tries to rescue him, but to no luck!

Dino overcomes his jealousy and lends his strong paws to lift the wood, to which the pup is quick to get up and run outside.

Once Mom, Dino and Mario are outdoors. Mario is quick to lick Dino to show his appreciation, and then runs into the arms of Mom.

Dino and Mario are friends, and Alex is lucky to have two cool pets.
