Traditions linked to happiness?

Ever heard about naked festival?

It happens in the middle of the night where Japanese men strip down and wear only a diaper.

Why?

They compete to get sticks, which is thrown by the priests. These sticks if collected are considered lucky for the man, and he could have a flourishing year ahead.

The man who finally gets to put the sticks into a wooden box of rice gets to be called the "lucky man."

Festivities add glamor to our lives. This one is straightforward, and nothing needs to be bought except for a diaper.

Conclusion

Some Traditions sure are funny. But, anything that makes a man look forward to a great year.

Mantra for today: Happiness is short lived so, enjoy your present and do not wait up for any festival.

I live in Asia, but haven't heard about this "festival". Sounds like a good bonding experience. The Japanese are very good at this type of bonding I think, based on my experience of seeing groups of Japanese men around Bangkok. Never a single man...always groups.

I was in Northern Japan during a winter once and saw a festival where men were naked expect for a diaper--I wonder if that was this festival?

Wow, I've never heard of anything like this. I suppose traditions are part of what give us perspective. I like today's mantra!

Ha! Indeed...you gotta enjoy the moment - you really do never know when you won't have the next moment. :)

Yes, Audrey it is the same festival that happens during winter season.

That is surprising that Asian men do not wander alone, Steve. thanks for the update.

Thanks Cari. Yes, traditions can sometimes keep us grounded.

Exactly, Cyndi. Enjoy and savor each moment :)
