The Circle of Life #1000Speak

Adam and Eve were the first man and woman according to the creation myths, and that was the seed of the broad population we have today.

Nature has designed a baby to be born from the union of two adults, thus making sure he is surrounded by family.

Alas! Not all are fortunate to be brought up in a cosy scenario. Circumstances are one such issue that comes forward.

Although the man is surrounded by his fellow men yet he feels alone and depressed.

He could attribute to the surroundings, the circumstances that he is breathing in...the survival of the fittest mantra when competition reaches out to the neck, that makes an individual feel suffocated, that could either choke himself out, or he has the survival instincts and grabs an oxygen mask to be able to fight it out!

We all have been in that situation.
What breed are you?

“One love, one heart, one destiny.”
― Bob Marley

The present world is full of suffering and injustice, and every soul goes through hardships, thus making them shine like a diamond in the end.

“Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a harder battle.”
― Plato

When each of us reflect on our lives spent so far, our eyes will get moist over some individuals who held our hands when our legs were shaky to walk even a single step, our tongues were stirring out of nervousness, our hands were trembling and sweaty due to anxiety and fear. There were some people and sometimes too many people who came in our lives who gave us the confidence to walk that extra step, to understand what was on our mind, to hold our hands steady, and provide us with the boost to come out of that situation, and today as we stand surrounded by the lush green of success or happiness we can feel the effect of compassion. The empathy of another human to understand us especially when we were in a plight, and he extended a lending hand. This hand not only comprised of a physical support, but it also dressed up our spirits emotionally and subjectively.

Today, as I stand at the junction of my life where I have breathed in 40+ years of my life, I stand in gratitude to all my teachers, friends, family, neighbors, strangers who helped in the oddest of way, by either lending me a helping hand, or speaking a kind word or two, or just stretching those muscles around their lips by giving out a gentle smile. This gave me the jump start and helped ignite the engine within to keep moving in the direction of my goal.

Thus, making me believe in this high attribute as it created ripples in my life. I intend to pass the baton of compassion, empathy, tenderness, and kindness around so that I can complete the circle of life, with the satisfaction to touch "n" number of lives.

Compassion is essential, and it is all about giving what you have received so far. It is also a reminder to stay grounded, since we all will wear the shoes of sorrow in our lifetime.

The source for morality is within us. We can either just follow our peers who are annoyed with the system of life or we could choose to make our own!

Mantra for today: Showing tolerance, and compassion towards the suffering helps to tap your inner self, which in return is a boon to your existence.

This is the link-up for 1000 Voices Speak for Compassion; on February 20th, 2015, over 1000 of us will raise our voices and our writing, and flood the internet (and our real worlds) with GOOD and COMPASSION.

It started with an understanding that even though we might get older, we still all need the metaphorical village around us, and the compassion of others in our lives. Then the sudden thought happened - what if 1000 of us wrote about compassion all at once? From there, the movement has taken on its own life; has burgeoned and grown and spread a whole lot of love and connection and 'villageyness'.

Every voice matters - together we're stronger - let's BE the Village.

Wordless Wednesday #72

When a bird feeder becomes an attraction for a squirrel....sure nothing is labeled just for birds!

Thank heavens, all living creatures have the freedom to live, breathe and express!

Mantra for today: Gratitude for the air we breathe, and the liberty to choose what the heart desires!

A Plate of Food

Sarita opened the door to her maid, who had brought her kid to work.

"He is my son; Jay." introduced the maid in pride.

" Friend's?" Sarita's son, Hari extended his hands towards him.

"Sure" nodded Jay and they walked towards the toys.

While playing, Sarita brought a plate of food for her son.

Jay pretended to play while Hari was being fed. Just then, a morsel came towards him.

He looked up to see Hari's hand holding a snack.

With moist eyes, he took the grub and soon both the boys were munching and giggling away.

This one time...

Grace bit her lips in apprehension as she muted the phone and scribbled something on her pad. After a final confirmation, she thanked and hung up. Paced the floor in confusion, as her hands scanned her face while tears were rolling down in unison. "I think I can do this," she muttered.

Picked up her purse, latched the door, and drove to her destination.

As she opened the door to her harbor, it was quiet in there. A man greeted her with his spectacles perched on the tip of his long nose.

"May I help you?" he inquired

"Err.. yes, I have an appointment," she mumbled while placing her hands on her thighs and gradually sliding them into the pockets of her jeans. She always gets closure when her hands are snug into her pockets, as she grips the fabric tightly to gain her composure.

The man scanned her and drew in a deep breath after raising his eyebrows, paged somebody, "Your appointment is here."

Grace paced in the waiting area, and soon a lady wearing a lab coat enters, and she's holding a folder in one hand. Upon seeing her client's outlook, she extended a fake smile, ushered her in, while eyeing the man at the reception, and nodding her head in disgust.

Grace could feel the burn.

"Look, I know I am not one of your regular customers, and I am aware I need a lot of work, but I have this special event with somebody, and this one time I want to look my best." She came to the point.

The lady in the lab coat was stunned by her honesty.

She melted, and after taking a few gulps she suggested a few options for her makeover, and after an affirmative nod from her client, she got busy.

Grace was enjoying being pampered; she closed her eyes to reminisce about the time when she used to be a local in such salons. Tears gushed down her cheeks unknowingly. That made the stylist pause, "Are you alright?" she inquired.

"Oh! yes." Grace became conscious of her tears, and she quickly wiped them but could not hold back, "Just so that you know, my frame had been exposed to all these luxuries."

That made the lady raise her eyebrows, "So, what made you go into hibernation?"

"My days are numbered." came a choked reply, "but, I wanna live this one time and dance my heart out with my beloved." she said with a gentle smile.

That response froze her cosmetologist, "I am sorry!"

"Oh! Please don't be. We all have to go one day. I am lucky, I know when I will be breathing my last." In order to lighten the mood, she continued, "This is making me live with mindfulness." and winked at her.

That reply made the beautician's eyes moist as she whispered, "Wise words, indeed!"

"So, do you have a dress planned out?" she inquired while moisturizing her bristles.

"Yes, my love had gifted me a red gown years back. We will be going down memory lane with the same act and dance sequence." Grace had twinkle in her eyes, and her voice had excitement.

Once all done, Grace gave a thumbs up and pulled out her card to be charged, but her beautician was quick, "It's on the house."

That act confused her. To which the stylist replied, "Gotta wipe out my crummy behavior that I expressed to you."

They hugged, departed.

That evening, Grace wore her red gown, and she danced arm in arm with her darling as they lived in the past while enjoying the few moments left in the present.

Mantra for today: Life is too short to be living in ignorance. Fill your bucket with conscious living since it leads to fulfillment.
