REVIEWS

Mind blowing! One of the best books read in recent time. What an amazing writing and beautiful plot. Full of emotions, tragedy and togetherness. The book made me cry for beautiful reasons. Ever line, every chapter has fabulous memories to remain in her heart for longer time.
The love, friendship, bonding, companionship described in the book is absolutely fantastic.
The last letter from Pravi's parents has blockbuster of emotions which will make you love it more.
I loved it so much that I finished it in one go as i couldn't keep the book down until finish.”

A beautiful story with friends-family at the core! As with the previous books in the series, this book is set in a Tamil community in South Africa. Though this is the third book of the series, it can be read as a standalone, but I would recommend that you make time for the previous two books as well. Having met most of the characters, who are directly or indirectly related to one another, in the previous books, I enjoyed this book all the more as the continuity is maintained. The main characters have been developed in detail, they are realistic with their faults and hangups. The author has portrayed the feelings of the characters in detail. Even the supporting characters like their close knit friend- family circle have important roles to play in the story. I loved the easy camaraderie between the Diva group and also between the men. The scenes have been described in detail and I could picturise some of them easily.

I loved the book. The book has all the ingredients, love, sibling love, friendship, relationships, sacrifice as well as feeling of togetherness. The story is fast paced and unputdownable. The language is simple and I loved the accent of baby Pravani. The cover is beautiful and very apt for the story. As with all her books, the author has highlighted a social issue in this one too. The twists and turns make the story a page turner. The author has used a lot of South Indian words, but a glossary of terms at the beginning of the book making it easy for readers who are not well versed with the customs and terms.
Sadly, this trilogy has come to an end, but I shall look forward to many more books from her.”

It would be great if you can add this book to your TBR

Energy Medicine: The Science of Healing

Pic courtesy: 123rf.com

Humans and their connection with energy

Humans are powerful beings and the amount of energy they "actually" possess is commendable. But, in this hustle bustle of life, we hardly pause and reflect on our inner strength.

Why?

Maybe 'cause there is so much negativity around us that we get engulfed with it and eventually get drained by it. This constant drainage causes our immune system to weaken and eventually we fall prey to many illnesses. That results in the downfall of our health.

The above scenario can be avoided.

How?

All living beings have energy flowing through them. A person could feel stressed out or tired because of the lack of energy in them. That usually happens when the energy flow is at it's minimum. We could help pump ourselves up by healing thyself.

WE are the healers and we can help bring our energy level to a measurable amount by various ways. There are many types of energy healing around us. To name a few:-

· ThetaHealing

· Shamanic Healing

· Restorative Touch

· Quantum Touch

· Reiki

Humans have 7 chakras of life in them. Each chakra is beneficial in it’s own way. Detailed information can be found on the below link.

Oneself can attain this energy healing via meditation.

The above various energy-healing methods need to be attuned by a Master specializing in the above.

Talking about Reiki.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese word and when split up..it means Life force Energy from the Higher Power.

What is it used for?

Reiki is used for stress reduction and relaxation besides promoting healing. It is a lay on hands technique used by Reiki practitioners where energy is transmitted to a person who is stressed out either physically or mentally. Awareness about it will help the person "feel" the energy flow through him.

Reiki is not any religion and has no dogma. The founder of Reiki, Dr. Mikao Usui introduced it in 1914 since he wanted all humans to live and act in a way that helps maintain peace and harmony amongst them.

Reiki is the flow of energy which helps accentuate a being.

Reiki has been divided into 3 parts where the Master gives attunements in three stages. The person after receiving the attunements can start to practice on himself and others. He will feel energy flowing through him when he is transmitting flow of energy into someone or himself.

Ideally, a practitioner should be get all the chakras of his moving and rust free. Once he has attained energy via chakra activation. He can start transmitting energy into another being and try to focus on clearing of the 7 chakras of the other person.

Is Reiki effective?

Reiki is energy dependent. If the person receiving Reiki is open minded, he will receive it and will see the difference in his well being...Emotionally and Physically.

However, if the person receiving Reiki has blocked himself and is rigid then he will NOT experience ANYTHING at all.

The effect lies in the receiver. There are various testimonials of people who are open to receiving this energy and have felt a difference in their lives...emotionally or physically.

About Myself...

I am a Reiki Master and have seen a difference in myself. How I perceive to problems around me and try to come up with solutions. The angle of observation towards life and it's problems has changed.

Reiki does not do any magic...it helps you change your perspectives, and this mind change can take you miles with regards to your emotional, mental and physical being.

How?

That is because of the positive energy flowing inside you.

My friends who have received Reiki have seen changes in themselves.

They have observed that they are holding the reins of their life via their thoughts, which makes an impact on their physical being. Thus, helping the body to heal and take control.

It is a state of mind...a meditative mind, which can help create awareness of one self and helps us absorb energy to that ailing tissue to help bear the grunt of the pain while giving the mind a soothing effect.

Quotes Liked by Readers:

~ “Neither knew where they would go from here except that it would not be anything related to growing apart this time.”

~ “She hugged her tight and announced her name - "Mukti".”

Excerpt:

She finally settled herself in bed, and out of habit, picked up her current read. Few pages in, she remembered about the next day’s schedule and proceeded to check that on her phone, another habit that she believed helped her to be prepared at all times. And then she stopped! How she wished she had not checked it. At least, not today. The date glared back, mocking her, bringing up unwanted emotions. "Seven,” she whispered. A single tear rolled down her cheeks before she knew it. It would be seven years tomorrow since that fateful day. As always, this anniversary brought with it a full range of emotions: guilt, sadness, and frustration at herself. She had even blamed Kshitij for whatever had happened that day, only to realize it wasn’t really his fault. Even after so many years, the memories of that day have remained imprinted upon her mind.

Spotlight: Hope? I Hope Not by Raghav Gupta

hope i hope not by raghav gautam

Hope? I Hope Not!

Genre:

Short Story Collection

Blurb:

'Hope? Hope not!' is a collection of stories from all walks of life and all age groups. It's is a reflection on human behavior and its peculiarities, written from the narrative perspective. The story traps the struggles and aspirations of the common men through different themes and genres.

Intro Story:

‘There are two kinds of hope’, he read through the text he had written and memorized. He was to give this speech at many motivational talks he would be giving once he achieved his goals. ‘The one hope is which drives you towards your goals. It is the hope that is the burning fire when you are cold and dark. This hope has been the reason for all the good things in the world.’ He paused, reflecting on his own life.

‘There’s another hope, it’s a disease disguised as hope. You don’t achieve anything, get a false sense of failure and victory because your heart and brain fail to differentiate between truth and deception. Yes, you get deceived by what you want to be, even though you can’t be the person.’

He realized he had no breathing space. And he wasn’t breathing either. He was again in two places, the world where he wanted to belong; and the world, where the world had sent him. Of course he had fallen for the second hope he wanted to warn people about in his motivational talks.

About the author

raghav gautam writer filmmaker

Raghav Gautam was born in 1987, and from there his experiments with hobbies began. He started writing poetry around the age of 15, started writing stories around the age of 18, then moved on to sketching, digital painting, stitch painting, and so many other things where he just didn’t stick (except for verses and fiction perhaps).

Life changed for him when he picked up his camera for a heritage walk for the second time- after almost not using it for years properly. He moved beyond auto-focus, changed his ambitions of working in post-production to working in production and as it seems- he has found a hobby which has turned into his profession, and he still yearns for those moments of personal projects which stretch him, test him, and give him pleasure in equal measures.

His writing style is natural, as he doesn't delve deep into descriptions. He remembers R. K. Narayan's Dateless Diary, where he mentioned that he skips writing all the descriptions that he skips while reading. Raghav has imbibed this feature. His aim is to take people into an emotional space where they can experience a world of their own.
