A disaster within....

Mother Nature has sure been in the news lately!

Hurricanes, Earthquakes
Some of the  'disasters' that man has labeled when mother nature becomes boorish.

That leads to the destruction of property and losses that man has no choice but to kneel and bow thee!

That's when the man looks upon other brethren either for help or guidance or just a helping hand to be able to stand up and be able to walk that path.

Technically the man would be walking alone on this road trying to figure out a way to find the home amidst this destruction, but scientifically he is not alone. His mind will be transmitting hundreds of neurons and as they network it will either give him ideas to overcome this problem, or it would cripple his walk by conveying thoughts that are sheer negative.

Man's body is an incredible machine. He has chosen to build skyscrapers out of it. The seven wonders. This machine has fostered ideas to grow food on this planet, allowed the man to survive the extreme temperatures when Mother Nature wants the spotlight. The list is just unbelievable that I am sure aliens living on other planets would be going green with envy checking out the resume of our achievements in collective.

Our mind and body have done wonders, and no doubt when Mother Nature strikes; it cripples man, but not for long!

We unite. Clean the wreckage and start fresh.

This mind when combines with the respective body is a full proof of our planet earth's progress. But when the mind does not hold hands with that body it has also shown massacres that can make anybody's heart cry with pain and disgust.

Mind, Body are like a beautiful ensemble. Each must be finely tuned, well nourished and maintained to reach its full potential.

A natural disaster would be when the body and the mind's circuit goes loose. There is no connection between them thus leading to a havoc not only in man's surroundings but also within. Unfortunately, we have many examples around the globe that are horrendous, torturous and painful.

We have one body and one mind that is organic, essential and we are nothing without it.

Spotlight and Review of The Royal Roommate by PG Van

THE ROYAL ROOMMATE

Blurb
My purpose in life is to protect you…

Sid is Army strong and sinfully sexy. He is tasked to investigate a woman suspected of having connections with a rebel group. The style of investigation was not his choice, and he is asked to move in as the roommate of the person of interest, Amy.
Amy was thrilled to start her internship in San Francisco and wasn’t expecting a man with rock-solid abs as her roommate. The moment she laid eyes on him, she knew he was bad news.

The attraction was undeniable and they both wondered how long they could hold on to their resolve. Sid didn’t want to sleep with a suspect even if she was wildly beautiful and sexy. Amy wasn’t interested in a fling.

Just when Sid is about close his investigation and declare Amy’s innocence, he finds out something about her that changes everything. She becomes the most important person in his life.

My Review:

The Royal Roommate is a story about a young girl, Amy who has ambitions. Those goals are not for herself but to reach out and help others in need. She is interning as an assistant in a law firm in SFO, and the story starts with her driving to that city. She is portrayed as a carefree and independent person yet cautious of her identity thanks to her dad's strict guidelines. Amidst all the discretion there comes a twist to the story. She gets a male roommate in her SFO apartment who happens to be a secret agent trying to investigate her links with a terrorist group. His looks were enough to get her hooked on him. There is lust. Lots of it. Thus, begins the tale of romance, and a thriller as these two knock each other's breath out not only in the bed but also trying to escape from antagonists that are after the life of Amy.

Secrets are revealed that keeps the reader on the edge as Sid tries to keep his lady love safe and protect her from slaughter and take her to the throne that was empty for decades.

What I missed out was the charm between Amy and Sid. There were lust and lots of intimate scenes, but I missed out on the chemistry between the two. They had nothing in common per se. Sid always wanted to protect her while she enjoyed being in his strong arms.....

What I liked: The twists and the turns with regards to the plot as Amy being declared a royal princess. The research that went into this drama that made the reader also go on a roller coaster ride. The emotions of Amy before and after she was declared a princess. The knitting of a kingdom Edinridge from a chaotic place to a peaceful and happily ever after.

I would rate it 4 stars and would recommend it anyone who enjoys a good well-researched thriller with sensual romance!

The Mom

"Sam hurry up! it's time to leave for school."

"Yeah" came a response amidst the wide yawn.

"Did you put your lunch box, water bottle in your bag?"

"Yeeees!" he muttered.

"Sam eat your breakfast! Why are you daydreaming? The school bus will be here any minute!" she stressed.

Sam rolled his eyes, and he could not contain himself, "MOM! Let it go!" he shrilled.

Mom paused.

Took a deep sigh as she placed her hands on her hips, she responded, "I am aware dear. But someone has to delegate it, and that ugly task falls upon me!"

Holidays & School

Happy Holidays!
Happy Holidays!
No more pencils
No more books
No more teachers' angry looks!
Happy Holidays!

This was the rhyme I used to sing each year from elementary to the end of middle school when I would be coming back from school in my school bus along with my school friends.
Yup, I do realize I have uttered 'school' many times.
What can I say...I miss my school days!

That was the best time of my life 'cause even the bully would become your friend. Even the shy and reserved person would be seen singing. Even the 'elite' classmate would mingle in. That moment when the bus would embark from our school to the individual routes of each of our homes, we all were bonded as strong as the Hydrogen bond that no one just about no one could fizzle that bond away since it bound our DNA's, and all other possible macromolecules together.

I do remember vividly the bus conductor would Shhh us some times. But none were perturbed. Finally, she would give in but wore a distinct smile on her face.

Such was life!
Simple, Unadulterated, and Contagious!

When my bus stop would arrive. Promises were made to call, visit friends' homes and I would even give a teary hug to my besties.

Two and a half months of unadulterated fun. It consisted of visiting my maternal grandparents home near Delhi. Visiting my cousins and that involved good food, late night movies, ice-cream, gossiping, and not to forget even the fights!

But again life was fun!

Within no time, back to school day would arrive. I and my sibling would groan, sulk as we would start getting prepped for the schedule a week prior to that day such as waking up early, eating and bathing on time while arranging our rooms and respective book shelf.

In the meantime, my parents would give out a sigh of relief. Relief that their kids will have a timetable to watch out for and not be disheveled.

Tables turned!
Now as my teen prepped himself into the routine. I was giving out a long exhale. This exhale was an internal happiness that life will be back to order, discipline and productivity.

When it comes to back to school; I watch my kid groom into a routine; I also get a chance to relive my crazy summer days. I realize I will not go back to experience it, but those memories are still vivid and strong within me that it still gives me the goosebumps. Thus, always allowing my kiddo to be unrealistic, wacky and disorientated to his likings cause memories if made can make anyone so alive when he/she tends to ponder over them.

About the author

Sundari Venkatraman is an indie author who has 16 titles to her name, all Top 100 Bestsellers on Amazon India, Amazon USA, Amazon UK, Amazon Canada and Amazon Australia in both romance as well as Asian Drama categories. Her latest hot romances have all been on #1Bestseller slot in Amazon India for over a month.

Even as a kid, Sundari absolutely loved the ‘lived happily ever after’ syndrome as she grew up reading all the fairy tales she could lay her hands on, Phantom comics, Mandrake comics and the like. It was always about good triumphing over evil and a happy end.

Soon, into her teens, Sundari switched her attention from fairy tales to Mills & Boon. While she loved reading both of these, she kept visualising what would have happened if there were similar situations happening in India; to a local hero and heroine. Her imagination took flight and she always lived in a rosy cocoon of romance over the years.

Then came the writing – a true bolt out of the blue! And Sundari Venkatraman has never looked back.

The Hermit

The sun was disappearing over the horizon.

The noise was deafening as the waves clashed against each other but that did not deter my steps.

Was it the coolness that encouraged me to move on or was it the mind that had escaped to a location that made me a recluse.

It was just me and my memories with them as a toddler, a teen and an adult.

"Wish Life was fair," I whispered as my tongue tasted the salt on my dry lips. "'miss our time together," let a loose tear, "while 'pray you two rest in peace!"

Review of Just Me, The Sink & The Pot

JUST ME, THE SINK & THE POT
by
Sudesna Ghosh

Meet Pamela, an overweight girl who’s looking back at her school days. From longing for a Valentine to dealing with a sibling who hates her, Pamela has a lot to deal with. She even has a special bunch of friends at home who she can turn to – but they aren’t the kind of friends you’d expect. Life sucks when you’re fat. Can Pamela ever be happy?

My Review

'JMTSNTP'  is a narration by an over weight school girl. Her incidents ring a bell to what my cousin went through as a student and how she too longed to be thin, wear all the 'in' clothes and be amongst the crowd.

Pamela is born thin but tends to gain weight as a school going kid. The agonies are plenty, and looking at the structure of our society where outer looks matter a lot, I felt for this girl especially since her mom and her sis were walking perpendicular to the path where she was treading upon. Pamela's emotions were genuine and legit as she was breathing in the 21st century, but thankfully in high school, she got a handle of herself once she got a chance to be published. Her joy knew no bounds as she could think beyond her physical self as she got an opportunity to ponder within and express those feelings via those stories.

The narration is good, but it could have been even better. Although I wished the father intervened more since he knew the structure and the mentality of the other household members. Also, it was disturbing to see how Pamela would count the layers of her stomach whenever she would get a chance. The fact that she had imaginary friends was amusing at first but again turned to something that needed attention. Glad that before things went out of hand, this girl found a hobby or should I say got an opportunity to express herself within to fall back upon an avenue that was not only liberating but also gave her confidence. The starting and ending of this novel were conflicting. She starts off with present tense as an 18-year-old girl that is struggling with issues related to her weight with no respite in sight and goes on with the narration from birth to 18 years of age, but towards the end of the novel, this young lady finds her passion. It is hard to find the junction where the story started.

Overall it a read that makes one ponder upon. It makes us realize the harsh facts of the society and how cruel we can get to these innocent minds by our own set rules with regards to the physical appearances.

Read an excerpt of the book here…

One day a classmate asked me, “Where is your lunch?” I told her that I had already had it and went back to my fake laughter and smiles. The others chatted and laughed while they ate from their tiffin boxes. Some brought samosas or ice cream from outside the gate. My hunger pangs got worse as I saw all the food and smelt the delicious odors around me.

The ice cream cart was run by a sweet old man who knew me since I’d started school. He would ask me some days, “Child, you don’t want your favorite orange stick?” I would say no thank you and smile before running away from him and his cart. One day he seemed to be desperate to make me have an ice cream. “Child! Come here and have an ice cream. You don’t have to pay me,” he called out. I smiled, turned around and went to hide in an empty classroom. Two minutes later, I shrieked; the old man had found me. He was carrying a dripping ice cream for me. I started laughing. Then I started running away from him. The old man started running after me!

My classmates were shocked. The sports teacher was happy to see me run for the first time – I had never run before because fat moves when you run. Everybody would laugh. The lunch break ended with me accepting the mostly melted orange stick from the kind ice cream man. We were too tired to talk about the whole event. But it did make me a bit popular that year, with the school Yearbook including the story and a picture of me running away from a 6 feet tall man holding an ice cream.
